Dr. Timothy Prather is a professor at the University of Idaho in the Department of Plant Sciences in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. He conducts research and extension on invasive plant species biology and management in range and forest plant communities.  Dr. Prather enjoys interacting with students and teaches courses on invasive plant biology, plant community restoration, and team teaches an introductory plant science course. He also serves as the senior associate director for the UI Rangeland Center.  Dr. Prather works with graduate students, serving 55 M.S. and Ph.D. committees, 14 as major advisor.  He has authored 6 book chapters, 53 journal articles, and 81 extension related articles.  Within his extension program he administers the UI weed diagnostic lab that identifies plants statewide, he authors “Idaho’s Noxious Weeds”, a University of Idaho best-selling bulletin that has sold nearly 100,000 copies since the year 2000.  He authors and coauthors sections within the Pacific Northwest Weed Management Handbook and has produced over 50 other regional and university extension bulletins.  In addition, Tim participates in an average of 24 workshops each year in Idaho and surrounding states.   He served as an associate editor for Invasive Plant Science and Management 2008 – 2015 and Weed Technology 2004 – 2009 and serves on the board for Idaho Weed Control Association.  He has served on NRI, AFRI and EPA scientific review panels.
